Hydroponics: About

The Water Garden

Do plants only grow in soil?

Are there different ways of doing hydroponics?

Is hydroponics a faster way to grow plants?

In The Water Garden workshop, children will look at 2 different hydroponics methods and see how to grow plants in a compact hydroponics system using water.

In this activity children will use the Kratke method of hydroponics.

Everyone has done gardening. Everyone knows how to dig a hole and plant a plant but not everyone knows how to grow a plant without soil... but we do!

Welcome to Sustainable STEM! In this workshop, children will learn how plants can grow without traditional gardening methods. They will also be able to use scientific analysis to determine which is the more efficient way of growing plants, in soil or in water.

Our hydroponics kits are compact but mighty! Children will plant one plant each* in the hydroponic unit. They will learn about how to feed the plants without fertiliser, they will learn how to measure the growth of the plants. Children will be learning the Kratke method of hydroponics. If you would like to try 2 different methods, contact us about pricing for the extra equiment.

All equipment is provided in this compact but mighty box!

After a 4 week period, your group will be able to harvest their crop and make a salad or just much away on some lettuce leaves, turning this experiment into a delightful community feast!

What's even better is that you get to keep the hydroponics system and can continue growing plants or vegetables whenever you like to extend upon the experience.

Every hydroponics workshop will also come with all regular documentary inclusions and instructions.

Go on, what are you waiting for? Book today to secure this Sustainable STEM experiment.

Who knows, maybe you'll be able to grow a beanstalk!
