Welcome to The Insectarium Storytime STEM Workshop
Are you ready to introduce your students to the captivating world of insects? Our Insectarium STEM Workshop is designed for teachers and early childhood educators, offering an immersive, hands-on experience that aligns perfectly with the EYLF, MTOP, and Australian Curriculum.
Explore the World of Creepy Crawlies
The Insectarium delves into the fascinating realm of insects, providing children with the unique opportunity to observe and interact with a variety of creatures. Students will have the chance to look at and hold a variety of insects and mini beasts. Please be mindful that these are living creatures and have differing lifespans, mini beasts can vary depending on seasons, temperature and other varying factors. Some insects that might be viewed might be spiders, scorpions, millipedes, stick insects, giant cockroaches and centipedes, expanding children's understanding of entomology and the diverse roles these creatures play in our ecosystem.
Hands-On Learning and Teamwork
Our workshop is designed to foster teamwork and apply STEM principles in a fun, engaging way. Using the concept of engineering, children will collaborate to construct an insect enclosure to house two spiny leaf insects. The fastest team will have their enclosure kept by the centre, along with the spiny leaf insects (seasonal).
Curriculum Integration
The Insectarium STEM Workshop is carefully crafted to align with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), My Time, Our Place (MTOP), and the Australian Curriculum. Our activities and resources are designed to meet educational standards while providing an exciting and interactive learning experience.
