Treasure in the Sky

Globular cluster

Is there treasure in the sky?

Have you ever done indoor astronomy?

Can you really navigate by the stars?

How does a telescope work?

It's time to step into the unknown with Beyond the Beanstalks space themed activities and enter the world of indoor astronomy workshop with the The Treasure in the Sky workshop.
Join The Hardhattians as they look for the elusive treasure in the sky. The Hardhattians new adventure will be shown on our giant storybook and we will follow their new tale as they try looking at the sky in the daytime but can’t see any treasure. They use binoculars, telescopes and magnifying glasses but have no luck. Next they use telescopes at night to look at the night sky. Will they find that treasure?

Not all space STEM activities allow children to use table top Dobsonian telescopes to look at models of various constellations, including The Jewelbox. Children will learn to search for constellations, planets and star clusters, focus the telescope and identify the constellations, clusters and planets as they find them.  Children will also learn about how in times gone by, before GPS, people would navigate by the stars. There aren't many space activities for preschoolers, primary school or OSHC where you get to do astronomy in the daylight hours but our fun astronomy activities are definitely one of them!

Children will then be able to make their very own kaleidoscope so they can always find treasure in the sky or in their immediate surroundings. Children will use resources provided to engineer their very own take home kaleidoscope.

You want space activities for early years and beyond, then it's time you come Beyond the Beanstalk.

Not ready for the experience to be over?

Why not pair this workshop with one of these?
