Embark on an Exciting Exploration of Sky and Space-themed Activities and STEM Education! Are you ready to unlock the secrets of the skies and delve into the captivating world of space? Join us for an immersive experience designed for primary school students as we explore the marvels of the universe in our Changes in the Sky Workshop!
Discover the Wonders of
Space and Technology
How do wind patterns affect objects in the sky? What do constellations reveal about our universe? How do celestial movements influence our understanding of space? These are just some of the questions we'll explore in this engaging STEM activity. Through hands-on experiments and interactive learning, children will uncover the mysteries of the sky and gain a deeper understanding of these fascinating phenomena.
Hands-On Exploration and Experiments
This celestial-themed STEM circuit invites students to journey through the cosmos in an immersive and age-appropriate way, encouraging awe, wonder, and curiosity about space and the stars above.
During this circuit, students will:
Observe projections of stars, constellations, and celestial bodies, sparking discussions about how the night sky has inspired science, stories, and cultures throughout history
Explore how the appearance of the night sky changes over time, including seasonal variations in visible constellations and the movement of planets
Engage with tools that simulate sky observations, deepening their understanding of Earth’s rotation, orbit, and our place within the solar system
Investigate how patterns in the stars have been interpreted across cultures and used for navigation, storytelling, and timekeeping
Experiment with spatial reasoning and observation skills by recreating and interpreting mini star patterns in a guided exploratory setting
This circuit supports cross-curricular connections to astronomy, Earth and space sciences, and cultural studies, all while aligning with the Australian Curriculum. It encourages students to think critically, make predictions, and reflect on the interconnectedness of science and human understanding.
