Welcome to The Big STEM School Circuit
Ignite Curiosity with Hands-On STEM Adventures!
Join us for Beyond the Beanstalk's The Big STEM School Circuit, an engaging programme designed to immerse primary school students in the wonders of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Aligned with the Australian Curriculum and My Time Our Place (MTOP) standards, this circuit fosters creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration through a variety of captivating stations.
DIY Dinosaur Skeletons
Students embark on a journey into the past by creating their own dinosaur skeleton models using everyday items. They explore chemical reactions with corn flour and water, assembling packing peanuts with wet sponges. This activity blends biological and engineering principles, allowing students to construct and understand skeletal structures.
Space Colony
Within a geodesic dome, students replicate various shapes and explore the cosmos using star projectors and voice-changing microphones. This immersive experience integrates astronomy and engineering concepts, sparking curiosity about space exploration and the potential for life beyond Earth.
Giant Puzzles
Students work together to assemble giant jigsaw puzzles depicting dinosaur footprints and ancient pyramids. This collaborative activity promotes teamwork and problem-solving skills while teaching them about paleontology and geometric structures.
Giant Dart boards
Provide a fun and interactive way for students to learn about various subjects. By aiming and throwing Velcro darts at these oversized boards, they can practise maths, improve their hand-eye coordination, and engage in friendly competition. This activity combines physical movement with educational content, making learning both dynamic and enjoyable.
DIY Air Cannon / Pom Pom Flinger
Younger students delight in playing with a miniature air cannon, while older students construct a paddle pop pom pom catapult. These activities highlight the principles of force and momentum, encouraging experimentation and innovation through hands-on physics and engineering challenges.
Mirror Madness
Using concave, convex, infinity, and varied size mirrors, students explore the fascinating behaviours of light through reflection, refraction, and diffraction. This station integrates optics and physics, allowing students to experiment and observe fundamental light phenomena.
DIY Bean Sprout in a Bag
Students plant a bean in a paper towel within a plastic bag and place it near a window to visually track the growth process. This activity integrates biology and environmental science, promoting understanding of plant growth and the factors that influence it.
