Workshop Information

Welcome to Beyond The Beanstalk's Eye SPY Supercharged STEM Workshop Discover the World Up Close with Eye SPY! Step into the fascinating world of observation, optics, and exploration with our Eye SPY workshop, where children aged 6–12 design, build, and keep their very own wooden monocular telescope. This hands-on STEM experience blends creativity with science, helping children understand how lenses, light, and perspective work while encouraging curiosity about the world around them. Explore Optical Science! Watch as your child’s curiosity sharpens through a series of exciting activities: Telescope Construction: Students assemble their own wooden monocular telescope using simple components and lenses. This activity introduces the science of optics, helping children understand how telescopes magnify distant objects. Light and Lenses Investigation: Participants explore how light travels, bends, and focuses through lenses. Through demonstrations and experiments, they discover how telescopes and other optical tools function in everyday life. Observation Challenge: Children put their telescopes to use in fun observation activities that encourage attention to detail, spatial awareness, and scientific curiosity. Design and Personalisation: Students customise and decorate their telescopes, combining creativity with engineering while creating a take-home keepsake. Create and Observe! The workshop concludes with students testing their telescopes, reflecting on how they work, and exploring how observation tools are used in science, navigation, and discovery. Each participant takes home their handcrafted monocular telescope — a lasting reminder of their STEM learning experience.
