Workshop Information

Discover the enchanting world of marionettes in Beyond the Beanstalk’s Strings and Things Workshop. Tailored for students aged 5-12 years, this workshop combines the art of puppetry with hands-on engineering, offering a unique educational experience that aligns with the Australian Curriculum and My Time Our Place (MTOP) standards. Discover the Excitement of Puppet making! Workshop Overview In the Strings and Things Workshop, children embark on a journey of creativity and technical skill as they learn the art of puppeteering. Guided by expert facilitators, students first explore the mechanics of marionettes, understanding the intricate balance and movement required to bring these puppets to life. This immersive experience not only fosters fine motor skills but also introduces the basics of physics and engineering concepts in a fun, engaging way. Once they’ve mastered the fundamentals, students take the next step in their adventure—crafting their very own take-home puppet. From designing to assembly, each child personalises their puppet, choosing materials, and fitting out their marionette to reflect their unique artistic vision. This hands-on activity promotes problem-solving, creativity, and a deep understanding of how simple machines and forces work. Create and Innovate! The workshop concludes with students taking home their custom-built metal detectors, a practical and educational keepsake from their adventure. This final project reinforces their learning and provides a tangible reminder of their scientific journey. Why Choose Strings and Things?
