Become Insect Architects
Children will embark on a journey where they become architects of their very own insect hospitals. This hands-on workshop is designed to foster a love for nature and engineering, helping children understand the intricate lives of insects and the importance of their habitats.
Insect Exploration: Discover fascinating facts about different insects, their habitats, and their roles in the ecosystem.
Insect Habitats: Understand what makes a suitable habitat for various insects and why these habitats are crucial for their survival.
Hands-On Engineering Building Insect City: Learn what a city is and the different roles it plays in caring for living beings.
Design and Construction: Children will engineer a large Beyond the Beanstalk insect hospital. They will collaborate to design and build this structure, which they can actually go inside, experiencing the results of their teamwork and creativity firsthand.
Interactive and Educational
Our workshop not only teaches children about insects and engineering but also promotes teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity. By working together to build an insect hospital, children will develop essential skills that will last a lifetime.
Curriculum Integration
The Insects in the City STEM Workshop is meticulously crafted to align with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), My Time, Our Place (MTOP), and the Australian Curriculum. Beyond the Beanstalk's Storytime STEM workshops weave captivating stories with hands-on STEM/STEAM activities. Perfect for preschool, childcare, primary school (Stage 1), and OOSH settings, each session begins with an imaginative story featuring charming characters, followed by a related activity that fosters creativity and problem-solving. Most workshops includes a take-home project, allowing students to extend their learning and apply their newfound skills, with plenty of options for adapting activities to suit your centre's requirements.
