Hazard: Mini Projector

Control Measures:
Only Beyond the Beanstalk staff will set up the mini projector.
Ensure the projector is used in a well-lit environment to reduce eye strain.
Supervise children closely during projector use and intervene if misuse is observed.

Hazard: Sharp or Rough Crystal Edges
Risk: Children may accidentally scratch or injure themselves while handling polished or unpolished crystals.
Control Measures:
Ensure crystals are checked for excessively sharp edges prior to the workshop.
Instruct children on safe handling techniques before activities begin.
Encourage children to handle crystals gently and avoid throwing or rubbing them on skin.
Provide close supervision during all crystal handling activities.
Remove any damaged or unsafe crystals immediately.

Hazard: Small Parts and Loose Materials
Risk: Small crystals, jewellery pieces, or loose sensory materials may present a choking hazard for younger children.

Ensure all activities are age-appropriate for participating children.
Supervise children closely during all activities involving small objects.
Instruct children not to place materials in their mouths.
Store loose materials securely when not in use.
Remove broken or excessively small items from activity stations immediately.

Hazard: Sensory Tray Materials (e.g., Plastic Leaf Litter, Flowers, Rocks)
Risk: Children may throw materials, misuse tools, or create slip/trip hazards if resources are scattered on the floor.
Control Measures:
Provide clear instructions for safe and respectful use of sensory materials and tools.
Ensure children remain seated or within designated activity areas during the activity.
Maintain regular monitoring of the workspace and clean spills promptly.
Use lightweight plastic resources designed for children’s sensory play.
Encourage gentle scooping and sifting techniques.

Hazard: Scoops, Rakes, Mallets, and Panning Tools
Risk: Children may accidentally poke, swing, or misuse tools during sensory and crystal panning and mining activities.

Use child-safe plastic tools suitable for educational play.
Demonstrate correct tool usage before activities commence.
Supervise children closely during all tool-based activities.
Remove damaged tools immediately if identified.
